Must-Try Foods in Seoul, Korea
Dear Subs,
It's been a while!
Lately, I’ve been busy preparing to open a hostel (guesthouse) here in Seoul. I’m still in the early stages, so there’s a long way to go. That’s why I haven’t been able to write for a while.
I wonder how you’ve all been doing. Can you believe it’s already April?
Wishing you a day full of smiles, as always :)
Today, I want to talk about Must-Try Foods
in Seoul, Korea
One of the best parts about traveling to Korea is definitely the food! Seoul offers amazing local dishes that Koreans absolutely love. Here’s a friendly guide to some unforgettable dishes you should definitely try when you visit.
1. Traditional Korean Cuisine : Bibimbap
Mixed rice topped with veggies, beef, and an egg, all blended together with spicy gochujang sauce. It's fresh, tasty, and healthy! Recommended
Restaurant: Jeonju Jungang Hoegwan (Myeongdong)
2. Street Foode : Korean-style Hotdog
Crispy hotdog covered with potatoes and bread crumbs, often filled with cheese or sausage and topped with ketchup or mustard. It's crunchy, tasty, and super satisfying.
3. Korean Fried Chicken : Yangnyeom & Fried
Korean fried chicken is famously crispy, and it's even better coated with sweet-spicy sauce (Yangnyeom) or simply fried. Enjoyed best with cold beer—known locally as "Chimaek." Recommended Brands: Kyochon Chicken, BBQ Chicken
4. Soups and Broths : Samgyetang
Whole chicken stuffed with ginseng, sticky rice, and dates, simmered until tender. It’s healthy and revitalizing, especially in summer.
Recommended Restaurant: Tosokchon (Jongno)
5. Korean Vegetarian and Temple Cuisine
Traditional vegetarian dishes made without meat or artificial additives, using fresh seasonal vegetables. Light, clean flavors perfect for health-conscious diners. Recommended Restaurant: Balwoo Gongyang (near Jogyesa Temple)
6. Korean BBQ : Samgyeopsal
Thick pork slices grilled over charcoal, served with fresh lettuce wraps, garlic, and savory sauce. Juicy and flavorful!
Recommended Restaurant: Saemaeul Sikdang
